ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE HOTEL PARTNERSHIP WITH WILDLIFE CONSERVATION SOCIETY (WCS)
May 24, 2021

LOTTE NEW YORK PALACE

New York, NY – May 24, 2021 Lotte New York Palace, today announced an official hotel partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which operates four zoos and an aquarium in New York City, making these two iconic institutions partners in conservation. Lotte New York Palace aims to serve as a major ally for the WCS to further its mission to save wildlife and wild places in New York and around the globe by inspiring people to value nature.

WCS and Lotte New York Palace will partner in numerous ways, including promoting visitation to WCS parks in NYC - with a bookable package, and through information in the hotel that highlights the important conservation work being done to protect landscapes and seascapes and the biodiversity that resides within them. The package, appropriately named “Call of The Wild,” includes luxury accommodations and access to discounted tickets to all five of WCS parks in New York City – including the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium, Prospect Park Zoo, and Queens Zoo. The Call of the Wild experience, launching on May 24, 2021, includes additional amenities such as a plush zoo animal for children upon arrival, gourmet animal crackers from Dylan’s Candy Bar, and other treats. In addition, guests of Lotte New York Palace will have access to more intimate animal experiences at the Bronx Zoo including Wild Encounters, early morning tiger enrichment and training sessions, and others which can be arranged through the hotel’s concierge with a planned start date in Fall 2021 (TBD)

With an eye towards the future, Lotte New York Palace plans to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Bronx Zoo, headquarters of WCS, by marking this important milestone in 2024.  The Bronx Zoo, located on 265 acres of hardwood forest in Bronx, NY, opened on Nov. 8, 1899 and is world-renowned for its leadership in animal welfare, husbandry, veterinary care, education, science and conservation.  As hosts to approximately 4 million guests annually, WCS educates and inspires the public to save wildlife and wild places, and Lotte New York Palace is a proud partner in this important endeavor.

“As New York City’s largest luxury hotel, we always strive to deliver an experience that is meaningful. Now more than ever, we wholeheartedly believe that we have a great responsibility in protecting our planet.” said Rebecca Hubbard, General Manager of Lotte New York Palace.  “It is unfortunate that sustainable travel and other conservation efforts have taken a backseat in many instances over the past year due to the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, so we ware are thrilled to partner with the Wildlife Conservation Society to get back on track. Driven by purpose, the partnership with WCS represents the hotel’s commitment to build a better future for travel and wildlife conservation in a way that also helps to protect the planet for future generations.”

“At WCS, we welcome the support of Lotte New York Palace to help raise awareness of what we can all do to save wildlife and wild places.  Joining forces with the iconic Lotte Hotel brand enables us to reach people from around the world with messages of hope and inspiration to save wildlife and wild places,” said John F. Calvelli, WCS Executive Vice President of Public Affairs.

Other environmentally friendly practices at Lotte New York Palace include the use of its own cogeneration plant which enables the luxury hotel to be able to produce a portion of their own energy on property.  This annual reduction in carbon emissions is equivalent to removing the carbon that would be absorbed by 718 acres of forest, which is nearly the size of Central Park. The hotel plans to expand their cogeneration program in the future. Lotte New York Palace also practices a “green” turndown program in which they offer guests the opportunity to reuse towels and linens throughout their stay.

The starting rate the Call of the Wild package is $485 per night, can be booked by visiting the website and must be for a minimum of two nights. External activity pricing not included.

New York, NY September 24, 2020 Lotte New York Palace, one of Manhattan’s most iconic luxury properties, today debuts its Royal Suite Collection, consisting of eight one-of-a-kind suites ranging in size from 2,500 square feet one-bedroom to 5,000 square feet three-floor penthouse accommodations. As part of the unveiling, Lotte New York Palace also introduces four newly renovated suites designed by award-winning interior designers, ForrestPerkins which include standout offerings such as luxurious Hästens mattresses and Peloton Bikes available in suites.

Accommodations in the collection consist of four three-floor penthouse suites, each with private elevators and rooftop terraces: Madison Avenue Penthouse, Park Avenue Penthouse, The Jewel Suite by Martin Katz and The Champagne Suite in addition to The Hästens Ultimate Sleep Suite, The Empire Skyview Suite, The Manhattan Skyview Suite and the Imperial Suite.

“Lotte New York Palace continues to evolve, and we are thrilled for our guests to experience the highest caliber of suites offered in New York City,” said Rebecca Hubbard, General Manager of Lotte New York Palace. “The collection is unlike any other offered in Manhattan and each suite’s striking design and bespoke amenities reflect the level of luxury that the Palace is known to offer its guests.”

Standout Suites

Designed by award-winning interior designers, ForrestPerkins, the suites evoke a sense of retreat that guests would expect from a townhouse, complete with a palette of soft neutral tones and curated art. At the centerpiece of the unveiling is the hotel’s newest three-floor penthouse suites: Madison Avenue Penthouse and Park Avenue Penthouse. Each three-floor penthouse suite features an extensive living area with an overlook on the second level, coupled with bronzed metal, muted tones and accents of blue to create a unique airiness and elegance to the space. The third floor of the suite offers a rooftop media room complete with working fireplace and an expansive outdoor terrace, creating the perfect place to entertain or take time to relax.

Additionally, the one-floor Skyview suites including The Empire Skyview Suite and The Manhattan Skyview Suite offer guests a spacious master bedroom inclusive of a master bath and walk-in closet in addition to a library, gym, entertainment room, living room, office, dining room, and kitchen.

Each master suite and guest room in the collection offers a serene escape from the city with Hästens mattresses. A standout of the Hästens partnership is The Hästens Ultimate Sleep Suite, which is the only suite in the world to house this iteration of the flagship Vividus bed retailing for $200,000. The Vividus bed is made of the finest natural materials crafted by nine of the world’s most foremost bed artisans with traditional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. Each Hästens bed is handcrafted using all natural, breathable materials such as cotton, flax, horsehair, pine and wool.

The two additional three-floor penthouse suites, The Champagne Suite and The Jewel Suite, are iconic to the hotel, offering guests a one-of-a-kind experience. The Champagne Suite’s interior reflects a contemporary and modern design, welcoming guests with a Nouveau Nero marble floor leading to a double-story Grand Parlour surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. The master suite and double queen suite take design inspiration from the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes with expressions of leather and deep rose tones. The Champagne cave, the only one of its kind in New York City, provides a rustic experience for guests directly adjacent to the dining room, while the tasting lounge and outdoor terrace house a black glass fireplace and custom designed hot tub where guests can enjoy unobstructed views.

The Jewel Suite, designed by acclaimed jewelry designer Martin Katz and HOK, merges romance and Art-deco inspired design to reflect early 20th century glamour. The suite opens with a two-story ‘Cascading Crystal’ chandelier and sculptural crystal ‘jewel boxes,’ personally curated by Martin Katz in addition to a private internal elevator accessing the suites second and third levels. The Grand Parlor showcases a magnificent grand piano with breathtaking 15-foot windows which gracefully flows into the dining room. The master and double bedrooms reflect the jeweled theme in opulent, upscale furnishings complete with a master bath and guest bath, respectively. The terrace level is an intimate and romantic setting, featuring one of the few wood burning fireplaces while the exterior terrace features a formal manicured garden and green space with an elevated spa in a striking stone landscape.

Design and Functionality

In addition to featuring Hästens mattresses in every master and guest room, Lotte New York Palace has incorporated the iconic, trademarked checkered pattern in various shades throughout the suites as an extension of the interior design. Outfitted in soft natural tones with neutral textures and splashes of vibrant blue, the one-of-a-kind suites offer a residential design that invites guests to feel at home during their stays.

Handmade in India, the rugs in each suite beautifully complement the subdued palette, paired with working fireplaces that add a sense of warmth and comfort. Seamlessly connected, the dining space introduces a moody and textural environment with earthy browns and nudes contrasted by lighter pops of white and tan. Each suite consists of a library and seating area, some serving as the entrance to the bedroom, which opens the space and brings a new element to the room.

Large windows offer natural light and stunning views of Manhattan, while pops of color in the furniture add brightness to the rooms.  The custom millwork walk-in closets incorporate the neutral colors and feature several full-length mirrors and deep storage space to keep items and valuables safe. The contemporary design continues into the suites’ bathrooms, which reflect cool tones, flaunting marble stone walls and floors within the space. Electric mirrors allow guests to control the lighting and mood, adding a sleek design element and sense of elegance to the space.

Curated Art

Curated by DM Art, the newly renovated suites feature a bespoke art collection that celebrates New York City with particular inspiration from nearby Central Park.  The art collection is an eclectic mix of fine art prints, collage, paintings on canvas, photography, mixed media and multi-dimensional works. The urban- and nature-inspired imagery grounded in a neutral palette uses subtle pops of color and metallics to bring the narrative of classic New York elegance to life.

Each piece of art was designed and produced by DM Art’s in-house team of artists and artisans whose talents range from traditional fine art techniques to modern digital practices. The overall goal for the collection was to evoke the unique qualities of the property and its locale with some influences easily recognizable, while others subjective to the guest.

Wellness Check In

All newly-renovated suites in the Royal Suite Collection offer a fitness component, including Peloton bikes, treadmills and yoga mats in-room. Select three-floor penthouse suites include both a Peloton bike and treadmills in a private fitness room overlooking breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline.

The Royal Suite Collection is housed within The Towers, a separate, distinct aspect of Lotte New York Palace that occupies the top 14 floors. A ‘hotel within a hotel,’ The Towers has its own stylish private reception area, complete with a dedicated Les Clefs d’Or concierge team exclusive to The Towers guests. Signature service elements for the suites in the collection include Maybach car service and complimentary packing and unpacking.

Lotte New York Palace is one of Manhattan’s most iconic luxury properties that caters to the most discerning travelers from across the globe. Home to the famed Villard Mansion, a New York City landmark, the historic property boasts a longstanding reputation for exceptional quality and impeccable service. Located in the heart of Midtown just minutes from some of the city’s most prominent restaurants and attractions, cultural institutions and shopping destinations.

Cleaning Protocols

Following its commitment to providing a clean and safe environment to both its guests and employees, Lotte New York Palace has updated its cleaning protocols and training in adherence with the CDC and the Hotel Association of New York. The hotel also recently launched a collaboration with medical and public health expert Dr. Robert Amler and new A Room of Your Own program, each which add a level of comfort and reassurance to guests’ stay.

Room rates for suites in the Royal Suite Collection range from $7,500 to $25,000 per night. All suites in the Royal Suite Collection are available to rent for private receptions and special events with the help of in-house event specialist. Historic Background

Lotte New York Palace boasts a rich heritage leading back to 1882 when Henry Villard, one of the nation’s prominent financiers, commissioned McKim, Mead & White to create a residence of singular style. In keeping with the times, The Villard Mansion was conceived in the neo-Italian Renaissance tradition, after the Palazzo della Cancellaria in Rome and today stands as one of the most beautiful living tributes to the Gilded Age. In the mid-Seventies, the Archdiocese of New York, owners of the land, cleared the way for hotel development. This enabled the famous residence to be accessible once again to lovers of art and architecture. Emery Roth & Sons, P.C started design plans with the intention to bridge the architectural gap between landmark and the new hotel that would be joined to it. The finished product resulted in a monolithic tower of dark bronze, reflective glass and aluminum that recedes from the rosy-hued Villard Mansion. The modern tower integrates with its environment as it mirrors the surrounding cityscape. When the hotel opened in 1980 as The Helmsley Palace, The Villard Mansion had been restored in preparation for a role as hotel public space. To return The Villard Mansion to its original grandeur, experienced artisans and craftsmen documented measurements and made detailed interior drawings of every room. Just as in an archaeological dig or historic reconstruction, floorboards were individually removed and labeled to enable exact repositioning after repair. All interior sections had to be re-laid in precisely the same pattern and positioned to reproduce the landmark-protected interiors.

Courtyard

The hotel’s world-renowned courtyard, the original Madison Avenue carriage entrance of The Villard Mansion, was redesigned during the hotel’s 1980 restoration to incorporate motifs from the flooring of several 15th-century Italian cathedrals. Today, pedestrians enter The Courtyard through tall iron gates to find a beautiful retreat from the busy Midtown streets. The Courtyard also serves as the entryway to Trunk Club, the innovative styling and retail service for men and women, which opened its New York clubhouse inside The Villard Mansion in 2015.

Food & Beverage Venues

The hotel’s 2013 renovation also saw the addition of five distinct food and beverage venues from a high-end drinking salon that houses some of the world’s finest wines & spirits, to a Parisian-inspired twist on a classic New York bakery.

VILLARD

Inspired by the bygone era of opulent hotels in New York City, VILLARD’s “power breakfast” concept offers the architectural grandeur of the original residence with a focus on genuine warmth and engaging hospitality. Open Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM
to 3:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, VILLARD offers a New American 4 menu comprised of “farm house” breakfast fare. It encompasses two dining rooms within the historic mansion – The Gold Room and Bar and Gallery Room. The menu is inspired by classical cafes and bistros of Europe, using locally-grown and sourced eggs and dairy, meats, and home-baked breads and pastries.

Rarities

Rarities is an intimate 25-seat salon that offers an exclusive and personalized drinking experience catered to New York’s elite. The reservation-only venue, accessed through a discreet entrance just steps from the hotel’s courtyard, features an eclectic and abundant menu of exceptional Champagnes, Prohibition-style bottled spirits, modern classics and a connoisseur’s wine cellar.

Troubles Trust

A cozy, subterranean cocktail bar and lounge tucked away under the grand staircase in the hotel’s lobby, Trouble’s Trust is the savvy theater goer’s ultimate destination for a pre or post show drink. In addition to a diverse range of beers and wines, the menu of hand crafted cocktails features cheeky concoctions like the “Pampered Pooch” and the “Queen of Mean,” that pay homage to Leona Helmsley and her pup Trouble, the bar’s namesake.

Tavern on 51

Accessed directly from 51st street, hotel guests and New Yorkers alike can slip into this sultry hideaway outfitted to evoke old New York. The curated collection of cocktails offers creative spins on specialty and vintage cocktail lists in addition to a comprehensive selection of wine and beer. The bar’s unique interior pays homage to the historic Villard Mansion through period details and landmarked elements like stained glass windows, juxtaposed with modern design touches.

Pomme Palais

Located on the ground floor, Pomme Palais provides a new take on the classic New York
City bakery with a rotating menu of seasonal indulgences perfect for guests on the go. Signature items include vibrant colored macaroons, warm house-made croissants and mouthwatering eclairs.

Meetings & Events

Lotte New York Palace features 30,000 square feet of multi-functional event space spread across four floors within the landmark Villard Mansion. Meeting rooms and event spaces range from intimate off-site offices to sprawling ballrooms, each with unique components that illustrate the hotel’s signature style, perfect for everything from weddings to company events.

  • Key meetings and events features include:
  • Multilingual Staff
  • Customized menus
  • 24-hour engineering and maintenance support 5

LOTTE NEW YORK PALACE ANNOUNCES THE DEBUT OF “THE MILLIONAIRES’ MAGICIAN”, STEVE COHEN AND CHAMBER MAGIC IN MARCH 2017

NEW YORK, NY (January 01, 2017) – Lotte New York Palace, one of the most iconic, luxury hotels in New York City, has announced their new partnership with renowned magician Steve Cohen as he will begin performing his intimate parlor magic show, Chamber Magic, in the hotel’s historic Madison Room. The premiere show at The Palace will take place Friday, March 3, 2017 at 7 pm, with a second show following at 9 pm.

Having launched the show at The Waldorf Astoria hotel in a private suite 16 years ago, Steve Cohen is no novice to the magician’s world. More than 500,000 guests have attended Chamber Magic at the Waldorf, and the show has been regularly sold out months in advance. Cohen began practicing magic at the early age of 6 alongside his Great Uncle Nat Zuckerman. He took his first gig at the age of 10 and at the slightly-more-mature age of 13, attended
Tannen’s Magic Camp alongside fellow campers David Blaine and Adrien Brody. However, it wasn’t until he graduated from Cornell University that Cohen knew he was meant to make a career out of magic. Today, Cohen has a remarkable resume including a visit to The White House for the White House Correspondents' Dinner afterparty, a private show held by Warren Buffett in Omaha, Nebraska, and inspiring audience members such as David Copperfield, Teller from Penn and Teller, Paul Allen, Stephen Sondheim, Barry Diller, and Woody Allen, who called the show “a religious experience.” Joining Lotte New York Palace in March of 2017 Cohen will continue to shock and awe the noteworthy names of the world as well as the luxurious guests of the hotel.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of Steve Cohen’s Chamber Magic this coming March and are excited to see what new wonders it will bring to the hotel and our guests,” said Rebecca Hubbard, General Manager of Lotte New York Palace.

The show will play five times every weekend – Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm and 9 pm, with an additional show at 2 pm on Saturdays. Ticket prices are $150 for first row seats, $125 for the second and third rows, and general admission at $85. The show runs 90 minutes.

“I look forward to converting guests into believers at my new home, Lotte New York Palace. This is truly a magical beginning at an ideal location!” stated Steve Cohen.

Chamber Magic is currently ranked as one of the top 10 theatrical events in New York City by TripAdvisor, which takes all of Broadway into account. Tickets can be purchased on the show’s website, www.ChamberMagic.com.

LOTTE NEW YORK PALACE COMPLETED $140 MILLION RENOVATION
WITH MAJOR REDESIGN OF ELITE TOWERS ROOMS AND SUITES

TheTowers, a lavish hotel-within-a-hotel, welcomes guests with new private reception and a residential design attitude that combines a contemporary look with a nod to a historic past New York, NY, July 2014 – As part of its $140 million redesign in 2013, LOTTE New York
Palace, a luxury midtown hotel, completed a $25 million makeover of its luxurious Towers accommodations. Lotte New York Palace employed two design firms to assist in this renovation:
San Francisco-based design firm BAMO; who redesigned The Towers’ 176 guest rooms and suites as well as the new private reception experience; and New York-based design firm HOK, who renovated two of the hotel’s triplex suites and the new Metropolitan Suite. Reflecting an upscale residential atmosphere with hints of inspiration from The Palace’s historic Villard Mansion, the redesign elevated traditional luxury to new heights for today’s discerning global traveler.

The Towers is a separate and distinct part of Lotte New York Palace, occupying the hotel’s top 14 floors. With a private reception area, accessible from the main lobby, the Towers come complete with a dedicated Les Clefs d'Or concierge team, exclusively for The Towers guests. Elevators transport guests to floors 41 through 53, which house luxurious accommodations with spectacular skyline views.

The private entranceway to The Towers lobby was expanded in size and boasts stylish upgrades, such as art deco screens and warm lighting. Upon entering the reception area, guests are warmly greeted
by The Towers’ staff into a room of quiet elegance surrounded by richly appointed materials. The walls of the entranceway feature silk and wood grain paneling. Elements of the lobby design also harken back to the Villard Mansion design, with classical 19th century patterns echoing through the design of the rich brown carpeting and ceiling.

From the luxe new lighting touches to the eclectic mix of materials and furniture, The Towers’ updated rooms and suites invoke a decidedly ‘home away from home’ feel for its sophisticated clientele. A soft, subdued color palette places the main emphasis on one of the best features of The Towers – the breathtaking city views from the suites’ windows. Pops of color also come from the 2 mixed media artwork that adorn the walls, selected by art advisor Nancy Sweeney. Strong geometric elements punctuate the furniture, carpet, and textiles in the renovated rooms.

Other highlights include the addition of rain showers in many of the rooms, repurposed wood features over guestroom doors and valances and sliding partition doors in The Tower Executive suites.

BAMO referenced the historic design of Lotte New York Palace Villard Mansion in subtle ways, such as incorporating the decorative nail head motifs into the sofas and the large custom-made, rosewood headboards that frame the beds.

“We wanted to tip a hat to the rich, historic feel of the Villard Mansion, but ensure that The Towers rooms and suites also have a contemporary feel,” said Steve Henry, BAMO’s principal in charge
on the project. “Our goal was to give guests the sense that while they are walking into a modern setting, they quickly understand that this is a timeless design.’”

The Metropolitan Suite, a 2 bedroom, 2-1/2 bath suite renovation, was originally styled a chilly white with austere finishes. Through the layering of art, accessories, color and texture, HOK created a living art gallery in the sky. Each room was inspired by the urban fabric of New York City; the living room using yellow and blue accent colors which are derived from streaming taxi’s below and a serene sky above; the master suite referencing the city’s night views; and the second bedroom includes butterflies flying toward the window amidst a black and white photo collection of iconic New York images. Eclectic furniture is introduced throughout the suite and is layered with
additional artwork, color and texture to create a space that feels like a living art gallery.

“Our vision coupled with the client’s goal was to create an art installation rooted in elegance; a living art gallery in the sky,” said Amy Jakubowski, Former Partner at HOK.

In addition to a rejuvenated look and feel, rooms in The Towers also received a technological and sustainability facelift with a combined effort from integrator Mode: Green and hotel technology consultants Enterprise Solutions Providers, LLC. Business and leisure travelers alike now enjoy the simple Crestron touch-screen user interfaces that control all of the room’s high-tech features, easily accessible electrical outlets, automated roman shades and blackout privacy curtains, iPod docking stations, television systems that can synch with computers or even personal Netflix accounts and full lighting controls to enhance the tasteful lighting designs of Bouyea & Associates. The combination
of these technologies, including LED lighting and intelligent thermostats, also provides the hotel with behind-the-scenes energy management that creates zero impact on the overall guest experience. Beyond the room itself, guests have access to an on screen menu of the hotel’s amenity offerings including spa appointments and in-room dining menus.

“The connectivity and functionality in The Towers rooms and suites has become just as important to our guests as their beauty,” said Former General Manager David Chase. “With this renovation, we were able to completely rethink how a hotel can serve its guests. The updated Towers are an extension of our guest’s homes and offices, allowing them to access all of the comforts and conveniences of each – with the addition of an exceptional view over midtown Manhattan.”
